Recovered -- Jay Crownover

Recovered
Jay Crownover

It was hate at first sight...

Affton

I hated Cable James McCaffrey.

He was entitled, spoiled, a user…and an addict.

He was out of control and didn’t bother trying to hide it.

He had everything anyone could want but still seemed miserable and lost.

Every move he made, every mistake he stumbled his way through, rubbed me the wrong way. However, I couldn’t stop myself from trying to save him from himself when no one else would. In the sweltering heat of the summer, Cable taught me that having it all means nothing if you can’t have the one thing you want more than anything else.

Cable

I was obsessed with Affton Reed.

She was rigid, uptight, and no fun. There was something about her innate goodness that called to me.

She acted like she was above all the normal faults and failures that clung to the rest of us like the scent of smoke after a fire.

I was infatuated with her, but that didn’t stop me from acting like she didn’t exist.

In the scorching heat of summer, Affton taught me that there is always a way back from the brink of despair. She showed me that the trick to having it all was realizing that it was already there, in my hands. All I had to do was hold onto it.

The road to recovery is full of twists and turns no matter who is in the driver’s seat.

“I’m pretty sure when I get the hand of all these feelings, when I learn what to do with them, I could learn to love you, Affton Reed.”

No one loves writing about the bad boys with good hearts more than Jay Crownover and wow does
she make you fall for them.  Cable is no different. His character reminds me so much of Rule but his
edges are sharp. There is no softness to this man and his shadows are the darkest of night.  Affton
always looked forward and stayed on her path; she, also, had her own shadows in her life.

These two are as opposite as you can me.  It is light to day and soft to hard but when they finally let
their shadows blend together it is beautiful.  This is a story of mistakes, regrets, and finding your way
by your own motivation. Some people know what they want in life, Affton, and some just need to find
that place that they are suppose to be, Cable.  Not all roads are easy though and those experiences are
what makes someone.

Ultimately, this book is about recovering (ta-da title reverence!) and finding where you were meant to
be.  Like Cable, sometimes you have to learn to believe in yourself and know that you can make it
without stepping backwards.  Also, you need that person to make yourself better for, Affton.

I loved this story just as I have loved everything from Jay Crownover.  If you are a fan of her, you will
love this just as much as the rest. Cable and Affton are a bridge between the roughness of the Point
and the loyalty of the Marked Men.

“I did love her in my own broken way and always had.  I just had to make sure that was enough to keep her.”

Author Interview -- Laura M Baird

Another newbie author for me, I hope you enjoy getting
to know Laura M Baird!

I'm a voracious reader myself, hoping to bring you years of joyous and thought-provoking stories filled with excitement and fun; sexy romance, laughter, and emotion.
Hubby and I enjoy watching our grown sons walk their path into adulthood. We're always up for an adventure, and hope to one day fill our passports with stamps from Canada, Scotland, and Fiji.
I love to engage with readers and writers, so join the fun here, on Facebook, or Twitter!

What is something that you wish you knew when you first started writing that would have been great to know now?
Since I still consider myself and emerging author, having been published less than a year, I'm still learning - A LOT! ;)  But knowing that reviews are so important would have been nice to know sooner; soliciting reviewers.
Have you ever based a character on a real person just so you could decide their fate (whether it be good or bad)?
Not entirely.  I've based some characters on people I know; given them some qualities those people have.
What are three words that would describe your writing style?
Linear, anal, copious notes!  I tend to write from start to finish and am anal about proofreading - making it perfect from the start.  I'm starting to loosen up a bit; and I find myself going back and forth, adding more detail here and there.
Where is your favorite writing spot?
In my office at my computer.
What is a must when you are writing? Food? Quiet? A furry friend?
Mostly quiet; I need to concentrate.  On a few rare occasions I've pulled up music on Youtube when it pertains to my story.
What is the most research you have ever had to dig into with a character or plot?
Great timing on the question, as I'm currently writing a paranormal, and doing tons of research on Native American Indians, legends, and names.  I love research, and can easily get lost in it!
What is the one thing that you have immediately regretted googling when you were researching?
I honestly can't say I've regretted anything yet... but given time, I'm sure I'll stumble upon something! ;)
If you could bring any one of your "book worlds" or another authors to reality, whose would it be?
Oh boy, so many great choices, but I'd have to say Donna Grant's Dragon Kings.  Her series dealing with Dragons, Warriors, Fae, Druids, Reapers... amazing!
Currently reading anything?
Several! Donna Grant's latest in the Dragon King series  -Heat. And Roxanne St. Claire's Barefoot in Lace.
Favorite Genre?
ANYTHING romance of course, whether it's contemporary, suspenseful, or paranormal.
First Ugly Cry?
Hmm... probably one in Darynda Jones' Charlie Davidson Grave series.  So emotional.
First Book Boyfriend?
The first that comes to mind is Aiden Gallagher from Nora Roberts' Jewels of the Sun.  I could just picture myself running off to Ireland and meeting the handsome stranger with the lilting voice.
First Cliffhanger that drove you crazy till the next book?
I try not to read cliffhangers, but every one of Darynda Jones' has me yearning for the next one when a book ends!
Favorite Author(s)?
So many!  Nora Roberts has to top the list, as I started out with her.  Donna, Grant, Rachel Grant, Toni Anderson, Laura Kaye, Rebecca Zanetti, Roxanne St. Claire... I could go on! ;)
A Villain/Bad Guy that you rooted for?
Still rooting for Ulrik in Donna Grant's Dragon King series.
THE book or author that started your dream of writing?
Nora Roberts, Montana Sky
A character that you saw a lot of yourself in?
Ho boy... I honestly cannot pinpoint one particular character, as I've come across many (and of course none come to mind) other than the feeling that I could relate to them.  Whether it be their shyness, their struggles at times, their desire to do more...
Do you collect paperbacks or do your prefer your kindle?
Both, but I have read more on my kindle than I probably have in paperback.
Signed paperbacks, do you read them or are they on the shelf and never opened?
Definitely read!  I couldn't imagine having a book and not reading it! ;)
Pet Peeves?
In general - horrible drivers! Inconsiderate people.  Cliff hangers!
Favorite Restaurant that has a drive thru?
Dairy Queen
Favorite Color?
Really depends on my mood and time of year, but probably orange
Celebrity Crush?
Keanu Reeves forever and always; lately, John Krazinski
Collect anything?
Rocks or shells from any place I visit, and I always give some to my mom.
The beach or the mountains?
Sheesh - I love both!  But mostly the beach.
What is your spirit animal?
Unicorn! ;)
If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?
Scotland, New Zealand, Fiji
If I wasn't afraid I would?
Sing a duet with Dierks Bentley or Adam Levine
Someday I want to?
Definitely travel more; would love to open an animal sanctuary
You have to give up ONE for a whole week, which is it?
Phone
Access to any form of book.
I can't do that, you're crazy!

What is the weirdest place you have ever done the "deed"?
Hubby and I did have sex on the beach on our honeymoon... not sure that counts as weird.

Ellie Jean Author Interview

Another new author for me is up on the blog for our next interview!

Ladies and Gents, Ellie Jean!
My wonderful life consists of my everyday job and looking after my 3 boys and husband. In my 'spare' time I like to try and do some writing.

I love cooking especially desserts and anything chocolate. I am a self confessed chocoholic!
I also love making craft, painting, drawing, cross stitch and calligraphy. But there isn't much time for these at the moment.

Sometimes I just love to grab a cup of tea and read a good, (maybe erotic) romance novel and have some peace and quiet.

Sweet Deception
I can’t let any man get too close to me…ever. But he’s the only man who has made me want to risk everything.

On my knees, looking up at Alex Raven changed my life irrevocably. Self-assured and powerful, his presence commanded attention…especially that of women. Intoxicated by what I wasn’t allowed, I entangled Alex in my web of lies and deceit…better known as my past and present. Shouldering his own secrets, he freely gave me his trust and protection. But would pulling him into my world be the future I so craved? Or mean the end for us both?

Isla

I want to be a normal twenty-four year old.
With a normal job. A normal family and a normal relationship.
But I know that it is impossible.
I’m not allowed.
EVER…
The Boss owns me.
Fooling myself into believing differently plays havoc with my mind.
The small reprieve from my normal life has thrown me into a tailspin.
His large powerful hands and the strength and passion he takes me with makes me forget reality.
Devouring my body expertly, making me scream his name over and over is my new favorite
pastime. Nothing else matters.
Making me reckless and deceitful.
But he wants me so badly. His words, his touch and his actions show me without a shadow of a doubt.
He protects what is his.
Will I still be his when I reveal my normal life? Or will we both pay for my deception?

Alex
My life is routine, busy, dangerous and with little privacy.
I’m consumed with my multimillion dollar ‘Raven Resort and Casino’ unless my family needs my help.
Discreetly, silencing any problems.
My dick, my brain and very quickly my heart has different ideas.
Her curves, the way her body melts under my touch, her voice when I take over her completely and the persistent need to fiercely protect her throws my ordered life into chaos.
I simply can’t get enough of her.
I can tell she is trying to fight us.
She has secrets. But I do too.
There is one thing I know without any confusion - She will be mine…

This intoxicating and passionate full-length romance has a cliffhanger and HFN ending. But don't be put off, the release of the final part to this sizzling, sexy new series won't be far away.

'A new author who is bringing a new definition to the categories of "claiming" and "taking" in the aspects of true romance...' Cristina from CristiinaReads.
